Study Tour 2016- Buenos Aires, São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro

In the summer of 2016 a group of 27 students and 1 Professor went to South America to visit companies, explore countries and of course have a lot of fun. The tour went to Buenos Aires, an intermediate stop at the Iguazú falls, São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro.
The group visited a lot of interesting companies and institutions. A selection of them is listed below:
  • In Buenos Aires the Dutch embassy, Deloitte and the Argentinian Railway Infrastructure Manager (ADIFSE)
  • In São Paulo the Dutch consulate general, Arcadis, Guarulhos International Airport and Heineken
  • In Rio de Janeiro UFRJ University and the Metro Company
To do our share of charity the group participated in a volleyball contest with local favela children, which was a fun way of ending the trip.

Study Tour 2015 - Hong Kong and Tokyo

The main tour on 2015 was a complete success! 24 students were able to live and explore these city's cultures, as well as business practices. The program was a full one! In HK students visited LangdonSeah to learn about the 3rd runway project, KLM & Air France Cargo, Hong Kong International Terminals and the XRL building site for the new high speed train terminal to mainland China. The Bid Buddha, Victoria Peak, some beach time and even horse racing completed the week in HK.

Tokyo started off with the famous capsule hotels and continued to Kofu, in spite of a typhoon. There a great company visit to Yokogawa awaited. During the weekend some were brave enough to climb Mt. Fuji while others got to know the city. After all, these were the only free days in Tokyo. Monday kicked off with the visit to Nissan, a production line tour and even a test drive of a Nissan Leaf. The final two days were filled with a workshop at the University of Tokyo and another one at JR East where the focus was on railway R&D.

We would like to thank the organizing committee for a flawless execution, the attending professor Pieter Schrijnen and his wife Truus, all sponsoring partners and of course, each one of the attending students, who through their good attitude and open-mindedness made the tour a success!
